Carteret, NJ – Mayor Dan Reiman and the Carteret Business Partnership, Inc., have announced that the Borough will be hosting its 2nd annual Battle of the Bands live musical competition on August 18th at Carteret Waterfront Park. Dubbed “A Fistful of Sound,” the event will promote and showcase regional amateur musical performers through fun and friendly competition, and present a new entertainment venue to area residents and visitors.
The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. (rain location will be at the Thomas J. Deverin Community Center and Library) at what has become one of Middlesex County’s most popular waterfront parks. A range of prizes will be offered to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, along with web-based promotions and media hosting at www.carteret.net .

The Borough-hosted Battle of the Bands will be a judged competition with no limitations regarding musical genre. Performers will be judged objectively according to their own style by a range of criterion, and may perform either originals or cover music. The event will be free to audience members, and there is no registration fee for performers.
“We were pleased to see such a great turnout last year,” Mayor Reiman commented, “with 13 registered performers and over 1,500 music fans. This is a great example of fresh, original arts programming that promises to grow in popularity. I wish all of our 2012 performers the best luck!”
