Carteret, NJ – On Saturday October 30th Mayor Reiman and the Carteret Business Partnership, Inc. will join with some of Carteret’s newest businesses to host the Borough’s 3rd Annual Halloween Parade and Fall Festival. The event, which first began as a Halloween celebration has since been expanded into a street festival for residents and visitors of all ages, featuring delicious foods, games, and live music along the town’s recently revitalized Washington Avenue Redevelopment District.
Mayor Reiman said, “The Council and I have gone to great lengths to see aesthetic integrity and commercial vitality restored along our business thoroughfares, and have been pleased to see the influx of new businesses that are helping to redefine our neighborhood. There’s certainly a lot to be celebrated here, not the least of which is the value of Washington Avenue to residents and businesses.”
Lineup for the traditional parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. by Carteret Park along Cypress Street, and will begin at noon along a new route, down Washington Avenue, Pershing Ave., Irving St., and Cooke Ave. to its terminus at the street festival itself. Halloween activities and attractions for youngsters will include:
- Pumpkin patch / pumpkin painting
- Inflatable rides
- Petting zoo
- Kids DJ
- Trunk or Treat
- Cookies and cider
- “Guess the weight of the giant pumpkin”
- Contests & prizes
The street festival will begin at 12:00 noon, featuring a variety of foods and crafts from local vendors, and live music from New Jersey’s own “Moonlight Mile,” an energetic Rolling Stones tribute band. Moonlight Mile is a collaboration of legendary local talent dating back to the 70’s, featuring local guitarist/keyboardist Wayne Olsinski from Linden. Wayne has teamed up with other Linden locals, guitarist Dave Lospinoso and drummer George Tuma, brought in bass player and Rolling Stones expert Dean Castrovinci from Ocean County, and topped it off with front man “Keith Beck” from East Brunswick. Wayne and Dave mimic Keith Richards and Mick Taylor to truly capture that vintage Stones sound. The band focuses mostly on early 60’s to late 70’s material, but touches on all 5 decades of music written by the rock n’ roll legends, with the same live energy that the Rolling Stones were famed for.
“There won’t be any shortage of fun for visitors of any age,” Councilman and Parks Commissioner Vinny Bellino added. “Our Halloween parade is always a popular and colorful spectacle, and the Washington Avenue Street Festival is an attraction in itself with its variety of sights, smells, and the rockin’ sounds of Moonlight Mile.”
