Carteret, NJ – Mayor Dan Reiman announced today that the Borough will be offering computer classes and job counseling for its local residents. The “Workforce Development Program,” offered in collaboration with Middlesex County College and with the assistance of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association, has been established to allow residents to enhance skills that are commonly needed in today’s workplace, and to take advantage of regional job counseling resources..
The Workforce Development Program was first introduced with the completion of the town library’s Computer Learning Center in 2007.
The Workforce Development Program, which is open to the public, will begin in September and run through November. Classes will include: Intro to Windows, Word I, Word II, Excel I, Excel II, Outlook, ESL I, ESL II, Basic Math and Basic Communications. These courses are being offered 6 days a week, held in the morning, afternoon, and evening (for the full schedule, visit www.carteretfreepubliclibrary.org ).
The Carteret Library has added a number of its own computer introductory classes. These will meet on August 7 and October 2, from 10:00-11:30 a.m.. “This program will enable participants to untap or refine important computer skills, and to be better able to meet the demands and pace of today’s workplace,” Mayor Reiman stated.
