Carteret, NJ – Mayor Dan Reiman along with the Carteret Business Partnership (CBP) and the Borough Council announced that the 2017 Latin Fest will be held at Veterans Pier & Waterfront Park, Carteret, on Saturday, July 22nd from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The rain date will be the following Saturday, July 29th.
The 2017 festival will feature performances by DJ Ricky Gutierrez, Trio Cristal, Tempo Alegre and Swing Sabroso. Christina Pierdra, a salsa dancer, will perform and provide instruction from 6:30PM to 7:00PM. A Zumba class will be held from 5:45PM to 6:05PM. In addition to the entertainment, the festival will have a beer garden and fireworks display at 9:15 PM.
Cristina Piedra is a master instructor of the Salsa, Mambo, Bachata and Chacha. She is the Artist Director for NJ’s Cultural Explosion Dance Company and Director of the NJ Island Touch Team. She has a background in Classical Dances; Ballet, Jazz, Tapp, Lyrical and Hipp-Hopp. Her unique style beautifully integrates Latin Dance with her classical dance background allowing for fluid movements with a Latin charisma.
“Carteret’s Latin Fest is a celebration of the Latin influence in our community,” said Mayor Dan Reiman. “People come out to enjoy great music, fun dances, food and community. The Latin influence is adding another experience to the greater American identity.”
