Carteret, NJ – Robert Wood Johnson Rahway Fitness and Wellness Center at Carteret will be hosting their first Grand Opening Extravaganza Health Fair January 28th, from 9 am to 1 pm at the fitness center located at 60 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey.
The Health Fair is free and open to the public. The day will focus on free health screenings, free day of fitness and education, and fun for the whole family.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway will be performing free glucose, cholesterol, pulmonary function, postural analysis and foot screenings. Information will be available on diabetes, sleep disorders and the benefits of physical therapy. Furthermore, the fitness and wellness center’s nurses will be taking blood pressure and body fat, the trainers will be conducting free Functional Movement Screenings and Ben the resident nutritionist will be conducting tasty and healthy food demonstrations.
A Functional Movement Screening is a great way to identify asymmetries, limitations and dangerous movement patterns of the body so they can be addressed and fixed through corrective exercises. From the scores of the functional movement screenings the trainers will put together free small group training sessions throughout the day to help address asymmetries and limitations found in the screening.
The Group fitness department will be doing a fabulous showcase of classes the center runs on a daily basis. The classes are for all abilities and ages. Special family classes and children’s classes will also be held at select times throughout the day.
The Health Fair is a great place to bring the whole family! The day will be filled with scuba lessons, swim lessons, face painting, tattoos, Valentine’s crafts, games and prizes. Also Julius the Clown, Eliot the Super Magic Man and DJ Unique 1 & DJ Dave will present to keep everyone in the whole family entertained.
The Carteret Step team will be performing at 10:15 am, Kirk Tice, CEO of RWJ Rahway University Hospital and Mayor Daniel J. Reiman will provide some brief remarks about the new fitness and wellness endeavor and what it brings to Carteret and the surrounding community. All in the community are welcome and encouraged to join in the festivities.
“This free Health Fair will offer a number of invaluable health services to residents,” Mayor Reiman stated, “and will provide yet another example of the Robert Wood Johnson Fitness and Wellness Center’s value to our community. I commend Robert Wood Johnson for yet again going the extra mile in enabling our residents to lead healthier lifestyles.”
